Iceland’s Ice Wonders: From Glacier Lagoon to Diamond Beach

Why You'll Love This Tour:
Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through some of Iceland’s most iconic landscapes, including the serene Glacier Lagoon and the mesmerizing Diamond Beach. This tour offers breathtaking views of icebergs, glaciers, and waterfalls, providing you with an unforgettable experience that has captured the imaginations of moviegoers and nature enthusiasts alike.

What to Expect:

A Journey of Ice & Water:
From the tranquil Glacier Lagoon to the iconic Diamond Beach, this tour offers a unique look at Iceland’s frozen beauty. Marvel at 1,000-1,500-year-old icebergs as they drift across the lagoon and wash up on the beach, creating a spectacular contrast against the black sand. Along the way, you'll also explore stunning waterfalls, majestic glaciers, and picturesque coastal towns, all while learning about Iceland’s incredible geology.

Highlights of the Tour:

  • Skógafoss Waterfall: One of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls, Skógafoss is not only stunning but also the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls trail. It’s also appeared in popular films like Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
  • Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon: Discover the serene beauty of Jökulsárlón, Iceland's famous glacier lagoon. Icebergs from Vatnajökull glacier break off and drift silently across the lagoon, offering a peaceful yet awe-inspiring sight. You can also opt for an additional boat tour to get up close to the icebergs (weather permitting).
  • Diamond Beach: Marvel at the shimmering icebergs washed ashore on the black sand beach. The sight is nothing short of magical as chunks of ice sparkle like diamonds against the dark backdrop. (Note: iceberg sightings are weather dependent.)
  • Vík í Mýrdal & Reynisdrangar: Stop in the charming village of Vík and enjoy views of the striking Reynisdrangar rock formations, a natural wonder along Iceland's south coast.
  • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall: Walk behind this stunning waterfall and enjoy the misty view from within, created by the Seljandsá river flowing from Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Don’t forget to bring a waterproof jacket if you plan to walk behind it!
  • Freysnes Dinner Stop: Enjoy a stop in Freysnes for a well-deserved dinner break (meal not included).

Itinerary:

  • Prompt Pickup: Begin your journey with a timely pickup from designated locations in Reykjavík, including hotels, guesthouses, and bus stops.
  • Exploring Waterfalls & Glaciers: Journey through the scenic south coast, stopping at iconic waterfalls like Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, and several others. Along the way, you’ll view massive glaciers such as Langjökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and Vatnajökull.
  • Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach: Reach the magical Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, where you’ll have time to explore the ice-filled waters and beaches, and possibly add a boat tour through the lagoon if available.
  • Vík í Mýrdal: Stop to admire the picturesque coastal village of Vík and the dramatic Reynisdrangar sea stacks.

Perfect For:

  • Nature Lovers & Adventure Seekers: Ideal for those who want to experience Iceland’s most spectacular ice and waterfall landscapes.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

This was by far one of our favorite parts during our time here at Iceland.

Lisa, our tour guide was a down to earth exciting person to have guided us in this buggy experience. I was terrified but she definitely assured any worries I had. I will preface with this, if you listen to the rules and listen to the guide the better the experience you will have and the faster the speeds you may go. We had some unfortunate poor souls who did not listen which affected our experience but Lisa did end up making it even more wonderful towards the end.

You may think you are going too fast but you do need to just understand that these are made for off road so do not be afraid to let the vehicle do what it’s suppose to do.

Overall this was amazing and we got to see the geothermal pipes and the lava field which hearing the history behind was also quite interesting. Especially since the guides see environmental differences almost on a daily basis. Would def do this again.

What a great and adventure filled family experience! Everything was very well done from the start. Safari Quads figured out a way to accommodate our family of 5 with only a few days notice. They also called to confirm and made sure we knew where to meet the group a day before.

Once we arrived everyone helped us with our safety and warm weather, rain gear. Thank goodness for all this gear because it rained most of our trip, but we stayed dry.

Sir Kaktuz was a fun and engaging guide. We traveled up and down mountains, through water, and over moon like rocks.

We felt safe and very prepared to go on the ATV by the excellent guide, Sircactus and the team at Safari. The tour itself was amazing and very conveniently located to the facility we left from. It was incredible to see breathtaking views minutes away from the facility. We felt safe and also like we were having an incredible and unique adventure. These photos will be a treasure for a lifetime. Thank you so much to our amazing guide!!

This was absolutely the highlight of our trip, and I wish it was our first day instead of our last so we had time to go again!! Marina was our guide, she kept a great pace for the group while still making sure everyone was together and safe. Amazing views. A couple photo stops along the route with information. Would and will go again!

Company provides warm suit for over your clothes and gloves. Wear hiking or waterproof boots for a couple puddles. Bring sunglasses, even if it isn’t sunny.

Such a fun tour and a very different et way to see the countryside around Reykjavik. When the tour says 2 hours, it means 2 hours out on the bike, gearing up and safety lessons are outside this time which was an unexpected bonus. The guide was friendly and helpful and they keep the group together without rushing anyone. Most of the tour was off road which i loved. 10/10 would do again if I ever go back to Iceland.
